BARRY, WALES, UNITED KINGDOM
Our manufacturing site is located in Barry, just outside Cardiff, South Wales. The site was built in 1989 and started production in 1992. Our team of just over 90 employees share a common desire to continuously improve and strive for excellence. Here at Cabot Barry, we pride ourselves on all being able to contribute to a culture that fosters entrepreneurship, innovation and accountability. We place a strong emphasis on collaboration and teamwork and believe everyone should have a voice. Our people share four core values: respect, integrity, responsibility and excellence in everything we do.
The site manufactures fumed metal oxides, including both hydrophilic and hydrophobic fumed silica products, that are used in adhesives and sealants, coatings and other applications
We are committed to delivering the highest quality products to our customers worldwide while ensuring the safety of our employees and helping improve the wellbeing of those in our local community.

Community Outreach & Social Responsibility
Girlguiding's STEM Day
Cabot employees from our Barry site recently participated in Cardiff & East Glamorgan Girlguiding's STEM Day for local Brownie Troops.
Aimed at interesting girls in STEM education, the team led an array of interactive activities to introduce the girls to our science and products.
Supporting local Girl Guides
We recently donated £1,000 to the local Girl Guide group to help them renovate their facilities that are more than fifty years old. Our donation was used to rebuild the kitchen and toilet facilities.
Donating to a local school
We were proud to support the local Sully Primary School with a donation on behalf of the Cabot Corporation Foundation to purchase new computers and math software for the students.
Supporting Action Medical Research for children
In teams of four, our employees participated in the Race the Sun Brecon Beacons to benefit children’s medical research.
Our employees cycled 45 miles, climbed the Pen y Fan mountain, and canoed nearly 2 miles along the Pontsticill Reservoir. All proceeds were donated to Action Medical Research, a charity that funds research for the many thousands of families in the United Kingdom dealing with children born prematurely or suffering from a devastating disease or disability.
Walking for charity
Our Team participated in a 10 kilometer charity walk to benefit the Tŷ Hafan Hospice for children and young people. We joined more than 600 females for a nighttime walk in pajamas, raising more than £1,100.

Reducing Material Waste
Our site has worked closely with a polymeric rubber compound manufacturer to utilize off-quality silica in lieu of titanium dioxide in their formulation, diverting approximately 120 MT of material from landfills since 2017.
Additionally, the facility has worked closely with a customer to accept off-quality silica. This arrangement has diverted another 40 MT of off-quality material from going to a landfill. Together, these two initiatives have diverted 40% of the facility’s off-quality material and instead put it to beneficial use.
