- Rainwater collection
- Advanced Air Emission Monitoring
- Energy generation for internal use
- Packaging reuse
- Waste recycling
What Is Carbon Black?
Carbon black for rubber reinforcement was discovered in England in the early 1900s. It is currently one of the top 50 industrial chemicals and is used in tire rubber, plastics, inks, toners etc. The use of carbon black extends the life of rubber products and reduces our use of natural resources.
Diversity and Inclusion
Cabot Brazil has a Diversity & Inclusion (D&I) committee that is responsible for advancing D&I efforts at Cabot. The statement below was idealized by the committee:
We attract, develop and retain the best talent at Cabot because we believe in the positive impact of diversity and inclusion.
Here, people with diverse characteristics, origins and experiences have the ability to contribute, develop and thrive in the fulfillment of our purpose and valuing integrity, respect, excellence and responsibility.
We are committed to a culture that promotes innovative thinking, collaboration, inclusion, respect, empathy, safe, healthy, welcoming, open and ethical environment, benefiting our relationships and relationships with all our stakeholders, business and society.
Since 1993, Cabot Brazil has a volunteer group of employees that aim to create a better world for future generations by participating in community activities related to children, health and education.
Our Maua, Brazil site is proud to support our community through the sewing school initiative, which focuses on training and qualifying people from neighboring communities seeking to create new income opportunities for families.
Created in partnership with The Industry Social Service (SESI), the program has already benefited more than 60 women and this year, around 40 students are participating in the training.
Our Maua, Brazil site recently kicked off Semear, an initiative that integrates our employees and the community around “Education for Sustainability” at the Orlando Silva School in Parque São Rafael neighborhood.
Through Semear, our employees volunteer supporting classes taught by The Industry Social Service (SESI) on the environment, ethics and citizenship, conscious consumption and social inclusion aimed at the children in the community.
Our Maua, Brazil site recently launched a project to expand green areas and improve the quality of life in the region.
With the help of community residents, we prepared the ground for 1,780 native seedlings to be planted, which will take 3 to 5 years to reach adulthood. On Tree Day, September 21, 2022, we celebrated the beginning of the project by planting 50 seedlings.
At our Maua, Brazil site, we're committed to reducing our energy consumption and preserving the environment.
Most of our energy comes from harnessing the energy of gases generated by our production process. We're also installing more efficient equipment, like an energy-efficient steam turbine, to produce more energy from the same amount of steam. In addition, we're proud to supply excess energy to the surrounding communities, contributing to our global goal of exporting more energy than we consume.
Cabot is committed to the health, safety and environment of the communities in which we operate in. Responsibility, integrity, respect and excellence are our company values and as part of our commitment, we welcome the community to visit the facility to learn more about Cabot products and processes and our community efforts.
